HOW TO APPLY BRONZING POWDER?
Brush technique is important to get the finish you want for your Bronzed skin, whether you want a natural-glowing beauty look, or a more transformative shaped glow. Bronzers are designed to add warmth to the skin, giving the effect of a sun-kissed or sun-tanned look to your makeup. They are often used to shade the face as contour. Bronzing products can be found in the form of powders, liquids and creams and MAC's range come in colors for light to deepest dark skin tones.
WHAT KIND OF BRUSHES CAN YOU USE FOR BRONZING POWDERS?
To use any formula as part of your beauty routine, you will need to select the right brush shape and fibre. Depending on the style of your makeup, you can select from a variety of makeup brushes to apply bronzer.
MAC Makeup Brushes come in all shapes and sizes, allowing different product placement and finishing effects. Powder brushes are most commonly used to apply bronzer, but avoid a tapered, pointy brush. For the best application go for brushes with a higher surface area or angled shape. Bronzer brushes with synthetic bristles will pick up slightly more product vs the more traditional natural hairs. Today, most cosmetics brands promote synthetic tools.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF BRONZER?
Bronzing formulas can be matte, satin or frosted. The higher the frost, the more shimmery they are on the skin. Matte bronzer is the best option for contouring. Satin finish is a balanced mix of frost and matte. These are the more versatile finish that you can use all over the face.
To decide on a formula, you must consider your skin type. Oiler skin needs a powder bronzer, Normal skin can chose based on their makeup preferences, creams would be best for dehydrated or dry skin and liquid for combination skin types. Select a color that is approx. 2-3 shades darker than your skintone. For cool skin undertones, a richer-warm tone works best, while for warmer skin-undertones a golden bronzer works best. Darker skintones can focus on bronzed highlights to accentuate natural contour on the face.

INTEGRATE YOUR BRONZER IN YOUR MAKEUP ROUTINE
Start by preparing the base with skincare and foundation. Apply foundation evenly all over the face. MAC Studio Fix Fluid is the perfect base. You can prevent any marks in your bronzer by applying the base with a foundation brush and starting on the cheekbones, blending out to the edges of the face. Do not start your foundation under the cheekbone. By doing this, you are creating the excess coverage in the wrong place and the bronzing product will grab to this, causing patches. You can also spritz the face with a makeup refreshing product and buff the foundation before concealer to remove any lines or excess. Top up the coverage where you need it with concealer.
If bronzing is new for you, to be able to correct mistakes easily, a cream bronzer is ideal at this stage of the makeup, because if you apply too much you can use your foundation brush to buff some of the excess away.
KEY SECRETS TO APPLYING YOUR BRONZER
These are the application tips for a more natural bronzing look. Using the classical large, fluffy brush with a satin-finish bronzer, apply the bronzer to the face in a circular motion. Starting under the cheekbone and gently taking the brush around the sides of the face, the top of the forehead and a touch across the nose and the cheeks. This placement adds dimension to the face. Careful not to overload the jawline, this can create a line which doesn't look great in daylight or on camera. Add a wash of blush to the high points of the cheeks and a dash of shimmery highlight to complete the look.
For soft, rounded brushes use a circular motion all over the face. Angled brushes and short-denser fibre brushes need more of a side to side, pressing or buffing motion. These types of brushes are best for contouring. Remember makeup brushes are cut to do all of the work for you, hold the brush lightly and use the shape or tip of the brush to gently touch the skin.
